Driving Progress

Several years ago, Smith took part in a landmark first-of-its-kind study sponsored by the Department of Energy. Over a 3 year period, data from Smith Newtons was collected, compiled, and analyzed in an effort to quantify the impacts of new EV technologies, as well as help commercialize electric vehicles and establish the necessary charging infrastructure. During the study, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) compiled data from more than 250 Smith Newtons - representing more than 150,000 days of operation.
